Residency
Enforced, not promised
Cloud residency is a region setting and a promise. Here the models, documents, indexes and inference run on your hardware, so residency is a property of the deployment, not a clause to audit.
Data residency you enforce yourself, from a European vendor under French law, with air-gap operation when policy demands it.
Where does the data go, whose law governs the vendor, and what happens if the connection has to be cut.

Jurisdiction
Your documents never reach us, so there is no copy at the vendor for any jurisdiction to compel. LM-Kit is a French company, and the licence agreement is governed by French law.
Independence
Pre-provision models and operate fully air-gapped: no account, no activation, telemetry export off until enabled, and the documentation shipped inside the server.
Obligations phase in through 2026 and 2027, and most of them are easier to meet on infrastructure you control than through a provider you can only ask.
Control
Models are chosen, pinned and versioned by your operators. Nothing changes underneath your system because a provider shipped an update.
Evidence
Attributed request history, actor-level audit of administrative changes, and telemetry that stays on your side: the raw material of oversight, held by you.
Locality
Document extraction, search and inference happen beside the data they read, which keeps cross-border transfer questions from arising in the first place.
This page is engineering, not legal advice: your counsel maps the obligations, the architecture supplies the control points.
Sovereignty procurement starts with who the vendor answers to, so here are the facts rather than the flag.
